Trembling and Weakness in Muscles

Trembling and Weakness in Muscles

I am a 34-nonsmoking female who, prior to giving birth in February, was a bit overweight but very healthy.  Since giving birth, I have been experiencing the following with increasingly severity: vibration sensations in my arms and legs,  trembling in my arm and leg muscles when I use them (for example, my leg muscles tremble every time I walk down a flight of stairs, and my arm muscles are trembling as I type this). I appear to have lost muscle tone as well.

Tests run in April of this year were inconclusive; symptoms have gotten much worse since then.  I have had accompanying anxiety and difficulty sleeping, with trembling at night as well, usually after waking with a start.

Small amounts of alcohol seem to help reduce the at-rest trembling, but it could be psychosomatic.

PLEASE please help.  I'm desperate for answers or even suggestions.

Aside from some neurological problem, could very well be this is a body chemistry thing, which may have been set off by carrying your developing baby.  Might be a mixture of poor circulation, hypoglycemia, and lack of nutrients and protein.  There is also a chance your thyroid inumbers are a little off.  Your regular doc can check the first grouping, and an endocrinologist can check your thyroid.

In the meantime, there are cans of nutrient shakes, like "Boost," and the kind you would benefit from is called Glucerna, by Abbott, it has lots of vits and minerals in it, and also evens out the blood sugars, and there may be another brand that does the same thing.  You mix one can with some milk, do this every few days, see if it helps.  To get your proteins going good, eating eggs helps, or frozen quiche, any meats of course.

Turn on one of the TV exercise programs, find one where they stretch a lot, and get started doing that daily, and then get into long walks, either outside around the yard or neighborhood, or some of the malls will allow people in there before shopping hours, to walk all the way around the perimeter inside there, until some of those pounds melt off, plus it will give your muscles strength, and the aerobic activity will help your heart and breathing, which is circulation.

The anxiety and sleep issues are connected to whatever the specific problem might be, so to lower any fears that crop up outta nowhere, immediately do some really deep breathing, in a set of ten, and that will lower the heartrate, which in turn lowers anxiety levels.
