Tremors

About 2 and a half years ago I began developing tremors in my left leg.  My primary doc wrote it off as benign tremor.  It became concerning enough that last December I saw a neurologist.  At that time he too suggested it was nothing to worry about.  Concurrently I had been having pains in my left shoulder, primarily in the armpit /chest wall area.  Went to heart guy - everything OK.  Started physical therapy, seemed to help a little.  In January I started developing tremors in my left arm.  Back to the neuro doc, did brain MRI, cervical MRI (both with contrast), even did MRI on branchial plexus, left shoulder... all normal.  Neuro indicated not MS and still says probably not PD.  Tremors are still ongoing, occur most of day, more prevalent when at rest... increase in intensity when nervous, or after a work-out.  The arm tremors, at times, cramp my wrist which results in me holding my arm up slightly as opposed to just letting it hang down.

I tried 25 mg atenol (beta blocker)...didn't really seem to help much.  Doc then put me on Paxil, said tremor could be from stress, etc... this hasn't seemed to help.

Not sure what to do next... tremors are bothersome and cause me to think they are the start of PD.  Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.  Thank-you!

Without examining you and seeing the tremors, I can not tell you what they are. What I would suggest is for you to have a second opinion with a movement disorders specialist at an academic hospital. They will be able to review your history and exam, and tell you what the diagnosis is ( and if this is PD or not). Wish I could be of more help, but your exam findings are crucial to the correct opinion. Good luck
