Trigeminal Neuralgia

I just received a Diagnosis of TN Three days ago. Sadly I've been suffering quite severely since then. However I'm wondering if the amount of pain I'm in is normal?

I understand that they don't call it the Suicide Disease for fun that it causes very awful pain. My actual pain symptoms follow the Atypical form since I have a dull aching as much as the shooting pain.

I usually wake up in the morning free of pain and tend to trigger it within a period of one or two hours after and usually stay in pain for two or three hours even when heavily medicated. During the afternoon I seem fine then usually in the evening the pain is even more severe and lasts even longer. It seems strange that it should follow this 'pattern' and I'm wondering if perhaps I should seek out another opinion? I just started taking Lyrica in hopes of remission and while I know it takes time I just wonder how much time before I start asking if its something else or can take some other stronger pain killer.
