Trisomy 10

What is trisomy 10...and how does it affect children? Are there any special medical alerts to watch out for?

Dear Piseco:

A trisomy 10 means that a person has 3 copies of chromosome 10, either a full extra chromosome 10 or part of the chromosome hooked onto another chromosome.  Depending on which type, there are a multitude of expressions.  It is difficult to tell you what to expect as I don't know which type you/posted concern may have.  Trisomy 10 is a rare finding so I suppose that it could be related to the latter described type.  Please tell me what the concerns and type and I will answer you.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
