Joso, I would follow up with a neurologist for additional tests as your symptoms are real and you deserve an answer to what is going on in your body. I hope it is nothing too serious. As for PLC, Some of the other reasons could be MS, Lupus, Thyroid, and several others. I was diagnosed with MS in October of 2002 with all of the symptoms that joso is having and I NEVER eat anything with Aspartame or MSG. I think what kahill was trying to say is that MSG and Aspartame are not the only reasons for health issues, and after reading your posts on several of the other posted questions and comments it seems that you may believe they are. So the "what is your answer......I got rid of my twitches by eliminating aspartame and msg and increasing my intake of magnesium." and the "post something of value.MOST people find it hard to give up all the junk food,I had no problem,I can also give a few other things ,but people have to learn for themselves,,yes there other reasons ... give us some" retort was somewhat sarcastic and in no way helps joso. Isn't that what this forum is really for? It's ok to have your opinions and your experiences that have worked for you and thank goodness they did. But remember everybody and every body is different and the cause may be from something else therefore the cure or treatment may need to be something else than what thankfully worked for you.
Good luck joso
what is your answer......I got rid of my twitches by eliminating aspartame and msg and increasing my intake of magnesium.I also avoid all fruits and vegetables that cause my feet to burn and my skin on my legs. I also stoped all nitrates which cause the most twiches FOR ME.....YOU are what you eat,,,,,,post something of value.MOST people find it hard to give up all the junk food,I had no problem,I can also give a few other things ,but people have to learn for themselves,,yes there other reasons ... give us some
THATS NOT THE ONLY REASON!
ALL OF YOU SOUND LIKE YOU ALL EAT TOO MANY PRODUCTS WITH msg and aspartame...................stop it FOR YOUR OWN GOOD............... I USED TO GET THE TWICHING ,,,,,IT HAPPENS BECAUSE OF THE FACT MSG AND ASPARTAME ARE NEURO EXCITOGENS
1) twitches can occur in MS but not in isolation - more characteristically paroxysmal muscle spasms or rippling of facial muscles (called myokymia) can occur. But without other signs and symptoms of MS and an abnormal MRI over time this diagnosis is unlikely.
2) early and widespread twitches without evidence of muscle weakness or wasting are very unlikely to be ALS. Twitches or fasciculations are more commonly benign syndrome or related to exercise, cold, a hyperactive thyriod gland, spinal cord problems like polio or syringomyelia, or pinched nerves. ALS is a progressive disease which usually starts segmentally in one limb with weakness and wasting.
3) I cannot be specific and make a clinical diagnosis over the internet, but your symptoms are compatable with BFS. You still need to follow with your doctor over time in case the symptoms change and need to be readdressed. In the meantime, try to live life as normally as you can
Good luck
I too have been having similar problems for 9-10 months. I was very healthy and exercised daily and was still able to do most everything for several months after the problems started. I have not been able to do much of anything including work for the last 6 months. I do not have a diagnosis even though I had several MRI's and multiple blood tests, but the drug neurontin has helped to some degree. My twitches and wierd sensations are less noticable now, though they are not gone completely. They tend to come back if I do not take the pills at the right time, so I am pretty sure that is the only thing helping. Unfortunately neurontin has done nothing for the extreme nerve pain I get sometimes at night. I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Good luck getting help.
I am very glad to have found this forum. I became very ill in July and started twitching throughout body. The neurologist told me it was nerves. All tests have turned up negative. I can see my skin lift up and can feel movement in my legs, arms, elbows, near eyes-pretty much everywhere. IOther symptoms I experienced were dizziness, extreme thirst, and trouble thinking clearly. I was just treated for parasites just in case but i can still see movement in my elbows. Today my arm was shaking for about 10 minutes . Has anyone experienced these "twitches" and similar symptoms? I don't know where to turn as the doctors are clueless and I am losing my mind and my life trying to cope with this. My e-mail is ***@**** if anyone can help. Thanks
Hi there thought I'd post this to you as my problems started just like yours 4 years ago. I have been posting on here to try to get to the bottom of my illness but till now have no idea why this started. My neuro has diagnosed small fibre neuropathy which has and is getting worse affecting legs and arms. I too get twitching all over but unlike you can no longer exercise (which I did every day before). If I do try I get awful burning prickling buzzing sensations in my feet and legs which take for ever to calm down. I also get loads of joint aches with this. Hope you get an answer soon.
