Twitching hand/finger

by Haydun, Jul 19, 2009 10:25PM
Hello,

I want to ask a question about a twitching hand muscle right between my ring finger and pinky. It has been twitching for the last two weeks and it is only getting worse. I'm a 22 year old male and i just cant get over the idea i could have ALS and it freaks me out completely. The twitching makes my pinky and especially ringfinger move and sometimes its constantly there and sometimes not for a few hours. How scared should i be from ALS, and what else can it be? I can't see very clear signs of atrophy or weakness

I've had problems now since Nov 09 with my lower L-4, L-5 spine area as well as my neck (C spine) area. It started with numbness/tingling in hands and feet and worked into severe back pain along with it. I get the same twitching you describe sometimes and it is due from the neck area according to my chiropractor and neurologist, two doctors I recommend seeing to be sure your ok. I had a nerve test (not too fun!) to rule out Parkinsons or MS.  They concluded it is all spine related. I get muscle twitches all over, plus I have to take meds that make that worse. This morning I woke up with a twitching middle toe which freaked me out but having been told there is no neurological disease I guess I just have to put up with it and pray it calms down. See a doctor just in case. Sometimes our necks and backs are playing tricks and we do not realize it as there is no pain at first. I hope you have health coverage to check this out. All the best to you.
