Twitching

I am 31 years old and I have been experiencing twitching throughout my body for a few months now.  Mostly in my Calfs,feet, and face....Sometimes in my abdomen, back, and forearms.   I had a complete physical from my doctor. He checked my Thyroid, lymes disease, and a full blood panel.  Everything came back normal.  I have not seen a neurologist yet.  I have no other symptoms other than the twitching and fluttering feelings in various parts of my body.  I am scared of ALS or MS.  I had about a year where I had a lot of trouble sleeping and I resorted to taking medication like Xanax, Lunesta, and Abien...every night for a year   The twitching seemed to start when I stopped all the medication.  Is it possible that stopping this medication could have started the twitching?  Any thoughts you have would be helpful.  Thanks

Definately is a possibility that your body became dependent on these medications and it is just taking a while to get out of your system. I would not worry about MS or ALS unless you had other symptoms along with the twitching...which you did not mention so I believe you do not have this. Somethings that fits more the description of what you gave is BFS. It is called Benign Fasciulation Syndrome. If you g o o g l e it you will be able to find a support forum that describes what it is and how you are diagnosed with it as well. Good luck to you.
