Unilateral left lower lip numbness

I have been experiencing left lower lip numbness for 5 weeks.  I am currently awaiting an appointment with a neurologist.  I have also had tingling in up as far as my upper cheek bone on the left side.  Dental causes have been ruled out.  There is no pain involved, and I do have full movement.  My Vit B levels are within normal limits. What are some of the possible causes of this?  The numbness varies in intensity, but is always present.

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

The cause may be related to irritation of a portion of the fifth cranial nerve. The etiologies could be meningioma, demyelinating lesion (such as MS), etc. If there are objective findings on physical examination, you may benefit from an MRI with and without contrast of your brain. Additionally, you should have an ESR and CRP checked to evaluate for possible low grade inflammation.

I agree you should be evaluated by a neurologist.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
