Unknown Pain

I have been have problems lately with a SHARP burning pain in my right thigh just above my knee towards the inside of my leg. It will last about 5 minutes to a half hour. And it hurts worse to touch it.  It is not there all the time. Comes and goes. It will happen at times when I am sleeping and it will wake me up. And it will happen when I am awake, I could be walking or just sitting. I will come out of the blue and I am not doing any thing out of the ordinary.

I am wondering if this is something that I should be worried about and see my Dr or what?
Thanks

Hi.

The pain could be a result of nerve compression or impingement along the nerve tract or at the nerve root in the spine. However, other causes of pain such as muscular disorders cannot be ruled out at this time.

You should consult a physician to evaluate your symptoms.

I also have a similar pain in my thigh.  I asked my neurologist who said it was caused by pressure on the nerve which runs from the groin down the leg.  She said the compression is common in people who are somewhat overweight and sedentary... sitting can compress the nerve.  Suggestion: sit with your leg stretched out.
