Unprovoked headache!

I am a pilot in the US Air Force... I fly fighters...  doing so has put a strain on my neck at times.  One time I badly hurt my neck while flying.  Pulling 7 Gs and leaning forward, the force snapped my neck down.  I saw a doctor and it was treated... ever since then my neck has not been the same!  From time to time it comes back in the form of a stiff neck, especially after putting a strain on in while flying.  Recently I was flying and put a strain on it and now I have a headache on the top back of my head.  At times it feels as though if I turn my head a certain way I'll feel the pain.  I also feel it sometimes when doing nothing with my head... Is this something to be concerned about?  Could it be something completely unrelated?  Should I see someone about it?

I think you should indeed visit the doctor again, to make sure you haven't got something like a bulging disk.  Could be you'll need a month's rest from flying for it to get straight again, maybe go through some physical therapy to strengthen the neck muscles, and possibly even wear soft collar support for a little while when you return to work.  I mean, it's probably nothing more than strained and wrenched muscles, but even that needs time to heal and then strengthen again.  But anyway, it's better to be safe than ruining your career.  When you see the doc, ask him if he gets a lot of tore-up necks from airmen who undergo G forces.  By the way, the headache is almost certainly from pulled muscles in the neck, you can rub out any knots you feel in your neck and shoulders, maybe put a hot water bottle on there, and it'll help ease the ache.
