Unusual symptoms

by natural, Sep 13, 2009 04:19PM
This Spring had sudden pain in left bicep when reaching. Finally saw otrho, doc, xrayed and no bone problem so gave me week of Predisone, then night of june 30th woke up with terrible pain in left calf. Over next fews days developed pain in othe bicep, numb fingers, toes, toe pain, tingling and pins an needles in legs and arms plus terrible muscle twitches. Over next couple months see muscle loss in arms as they look more wrinkled, had lot of fatigue and pain in legs and arms, some so several to cry out, saw three docs, one was neuro, every blood test you can think of, lyme, I am a forester, all normal but positive for epstein barr. Office reflex, balance, strength check by neuro doc said i looked Ok and muscle loss may be lack of use from pain as i was working out a lot and now hard for me to walk over 10 minutes without pain and some fatigu eand sometimes just picking up a small item hurts arm or hands. I also get pain in wrist and other joints. What in the  world came come on this fast actually overnight and cause the neuropathy and the the pain like this? I did take the antibotic (antibiotic) Cipro just before initial arm pain. I am nearly disabled by this and scared. I am male age 56, with 11 year old daughter who needs me of course. Doctors at loss for now, maybe Fibro or Lyme? Neuro disease this fast with all this pain? Scared in SC.

Hi,
The symptoms are not likely to be due to Fibromyalgia because Fibromyalgia pain is necessarily muscle pain unrelated to joints. The symptoms could be due to Lyme disease, Multiple Sclerosis or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Please go for ELISA blood test with the western blot used as a follow-up test, MRI of the spine and EMG of the muscles and consult another neurologist to rule out the above mentioned diseases. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
