I heard about this once on a documentary. I would go to your doctor, they can preform a vertigo test (i don't know the name). If you are diagnosed with vertigo they can give you drugs to manage it. It's very common. Good luck!
Google BPPV, Benign Proxymal Positional Vertigo. It is a vestibular impairment. You might also have Oscillopsia, which is bouncing vision. I also have that. My symptoms are like yours, but I now take medication and it is better, but after nearly 9 years with it, I doubt it is going to go away. The test that Tinners is talking about is called an ENG. That is how this condition is diagnosed. Best wishes.
Your symptoms causing the vertigo can be many, mine are constant and conditions vary. You could have inner ear problems. I would want to see ENT specialists. The feeling of heaviness can be vertigo but, could also be neurological. See a doctor and don't delay, take caution. Smiling on ahead.
