VP Y attachment Shunt Question

I have had a VP Y attachment Shunt since 1996 for hydrocephalus . Recently my balance has gotten worse and have fallen.  I contacted nsg and he ordered mri's of brain and c spine which i had Friday. I will no results Monday.  I haven't been able to find info on my shunts.   Is there any information you can give on these particular  shunts?  What would be symptoms of a shunt failure?  Are these particular shunts still used today since they are older ones?
