Venous angioma

by tylersmom1471, Mar 19, 2009 04:49PM
My son is 8 years old and we were recently in a car accident and he develpoed headaches after the fact, and we took him to his MD and he recomended a CT of his head. In the finding they discovers a Venous Angioma in the back of his brain exactly where he was inpacted in the accident. He had had other CT's of the head prior to that because he had ongoing sinus problems. But they never saw this before. My question is. Could this Venous Angioma be a result of the blunt force trauma to his head from the accident. Please advise.

Hi,

Venous angioma is a congenital anomaly of veins in the brain. They are present since birth and there is no evidence of trauma causing them.

CT taken for detecting abnormalities of sinuses is different from that for imaging thebrain, hence not found before.
