Vertigo

Is it possible that Herpes Simplex 1 could cause intermittent vertigo/lightheartedness and problems with visual tracking? It  began  with an acute onset of spinning Vertigo that lasted about 12 hours and then it gradually left me with lightheadedness.  It was treated as BPV  with home exercises which did not help and then after an MRI, one ENT thought I had MS, while  an ENT at the House Clinic (known as the Dizzy Doctor) said that, although it was  originating from the central nervous system, he thankfully, ruled out MS. I am currently taking mg of Klonepin at bedtime and although I am better, the visusal tracking/scanning remains a problem. If I scan too much, I get nauseous and light headed.
Background: I have been prone to Herpes Simplex 1 and took Valtrex for suppression for 20+ years while working as a dental hygienist. About the time of the onset of the vertigo I had stopped taking the Valtrex as I was no longer working in a dental office. Another thought is that I was exposed to mercury during those 20 years in the dental office.  
Other than the vertigo, I am a  very healthy 58 year old post menopausal woman.

I am in a dilemma as to what to do now. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. very much!
