Viral or Migraine or MS or?

I have had a variety of symptoms over the past 6 months.  It started as nausea and neuro symptoms like tingling and numbness and pain in my legs and feet. My PCP thought it was a stomach virus because I lost 15 pounds and was nausea and fatigued.  Over the past 6 months the nausea has subsided but the neuro symptoms have not.
I have tingling and twitches at various spots on my body, burning pain in feet, general pain in legs, and numbness/tightness in head.  Also developed floaters.  All symptoms come and go except floaters.
I have seen a neuro 3 times and he first thought EBV virus but in my most recent visit he suggested a migraine syndrome.  I was totally shocked as I have never gotten headaches except some sinus type pain a couple months ago.  He said you don't have to have headaches to have other migaine symptoms.
I have had normal blood tests, EMG, and MRI.  He is prescribing Enderol(sp?) which I believe is a beta blocker.  I am hesitant to take this as my blood pressure is 120/80.
Have you ever heard of such a possibility as migraines with my symptoms and no headaches?  I thought my problem sounds more like MS.
Dear Joe,
A couple of thoughts.  Yes, people can get "migraines" and neurological symptoms without developing a headache. The diagnosis is one of exclusion.  A negative EMG and MRI are important tests in the work-up to rule out more serious causes.  Another test that may be helpful, if not already completed, is a lumbar pucture. There are certain abnormalities that are frequently seen in patients with MS.  Another possibility is a small fiber peripheral neuropathy or the beginning of a pn causing some burning sensations in feet.  Basic blood work for peripheral neuropathy including B12, sed, cbc, rpr, and thryoid function test should be completed. A good neurological exam is also important to pick up subtle abnormalites.  With regard to treatment of headaches, inderal is commonly used to decrease the frequency of headaches.  It can be given to people with normal blood pressures; it will not lowere bp if it is not elevated.  Discuss these additional tests with your doctor.  If you are interested in getting an evaluation at CCF call 1-800-CCF-CARE.  Good Luck.
