Vision Loss In One Eye?

Hi CCF,  I am experiencing new onset of vision loss in left eye. It is like looking through a tunnel. Everything on the outer edges of vision is gray. I only can see through center of vision. Is this a common thing in MS?  I have had problems with blurring of vision and nystagmus in left eye, but this is new. Could this be a episode of Optic Neuritis?  I know ON is a classic symptom in MS.
Thank you for your help! Sincerely Anneliese

I hope you are not relying on this forum solely for getting help with this new symptom. I would treat any change of vision as potentially serious and hope that you have already contacted your doctor about this, and possibly been referred to an ophthalmologist. SOON.
That said, the symptom you describe does not sound like optic neuritis. The visual loss in ON has a different pattern than what you describe. Yes, ON is a classic syndrome which often heralds the onset of MS, but of course not everyone with ON gets MS.
The "blurred vision" and "nystagmus" in the left eye is puzzling. I can't immediately think of a mechanism for that. Clearly, more detail is needed. Bring that to the attention of your doctor when you are evaluated.
I hope this helps. As you know, this information is given for your general medical education only. Specific comments regarding your diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options must come from your doctor after appropriate evaluation. CCF MD mdf.
