Vitamin B12

I'm wondering how much nerve damage is caused to people who have marginally low levels of Vitamin B12 or Folates.  When people have problems with these vitamins they build up Homocysteine and Methylmalonic acid levels in the blood and urine.  These cause damage to the nerves.  - Once B12 deficiency is diagnosed, what can be done to repair the nerve damage that has occurred in the mean time?  Are there products out there such as Trimethylglycine in conjunction with Folic Acid and B12 that will repair the nerves?

Well, nerve damage depends on how long a B12 deficiency has been going on.  If strange symptoms show up, particularly trouble walking, might be a problem.  But since yours is marginal, and if it's been less than, say a year or two, and you aren't dealing with some wild symptoms, you are probably okay and there has been no nerve damage.  Just take an ordinary B12 supplement for it and that should correct the deficiency...the bloodwork after you start taking B12 should show the correction.  By all means, ask the doctor who ordered the labwork about the situation, he can clarify much better than I can on this whole issue.  And I don't know about the Trimethylglycine stuff and I don't know if nerve damage, if any, can be reversed.
