Vocal chord, sluggish swallow reflex

my husband was hit hard in the head with a softball over 20 years ago. He suffered short term memory loss at the time of the incident and now as a reult has epilepsy which is under control. About 7 years ago one of his vocal chord suddenly and mysteriously became paralyzed. He had thyroplasty surgery and was able to strenghten hisa remaining chord. He is a musican, being able to sing is important.
Now his new problem is a sluggish swallow reflect. It hard for me to push out words. Swallowing is slow and difficult.
what can we do to help him?
