Wasting and Tremors in Right Hand fingers

by ajindham, Dec 29, 2008 12:19PM
I have noticed wasting and tremors in my right hand fingers. The little finger and finger next to the little one is kinda getting spread out and when I try to bring the all the fingers stretched and straight, the last two kinda doesn't come close together.

I feel tremors while doing fine activities. The tremors kinda increase when I show my hand to others or my attention is on my fingers. If my attention is not on my fingers, the tremors are not much. But the wasting is clearly noticeable between my thumb and forefinger.

The symptoms all started about 10 years back while I was writing my examination papers. I was unable to write as my fingers were shaking and could not hold the pen. eventually as time passed, I changed my grip and am able to write but will loss of original speed.

I have no other symptoms and my left hand is fine.

Back when it started I went to many doctors but could not get conclusion. I got all sorts of tests, physiotherapy etc.
MRI, Brain scan was all Normal. But my EMG showed some results. Doctor said Degeneration of Anterior horn cells.
Since the diagonosis was not conclusive from so many doctors, I didn't want to waste time in hospitals and hence stopped and continued with my career building.

I work on computers, so I use keyboard extensively.

I am 31 yrs old, till today since 10 years, my symptoms are same and has not increased that much. It is still right hand fingers only.
No other problems except doing fine activities with my right hand fingers.

The problem found during EMG i.e. degeneration of anterior horn cells is kinda bothering me now.

Is there any serious problem? I do not want to spend again many months in diagnosis. Any suggestions?
