Ok, for one, anxiety is a ******* ***** and can make every thing seem so much worse. And for two, this is going to be long but you should totally read it. I think it'll help.
I've had crazy anxiety for 10+ years but recently have gotten it under a little bit of control (Xanax). That being said it has given me some hindsight into my previous panic attacks and anxiety. So, for one, like I said and I'm sure you're well aware of, your anxiety absolutely is making you over think your symptom. I wouldn't go as far as saying you have anything seriously wrong with you or absolutely nothing wrong with you though. Now, there's the fact that your family has a history of Parkinson's so you do need to know it is not hereditary. Most cases of the disease are not considered to have a genetic basis (in other words they are not inherited). There are however a small percentage of people that get Parkinson's disease because of a specific gene they inherited from their parents. I can tell you that because my husband's grandma was tested for that specific gene because she had symptoms of shaking, as like yours, but turned out she didn't have Parkinson's but she did have the gene for it. I know, it sounds stupid and wired but bare with me. Ok, so my husband has always had shaky hands and even his face/eyes have a twitch/shake (he doesn't notice the face and eyes at all but his doctor did tests and saw the twitches) anyways, he was put on some medication for what's called an essential tremor. It's benign, there's not cure but there are treatments, it can last just a couple years or be lifelong, and it may get worse with old age but the condition itself isn't what's actually getting worse it would only seem worse due to being old and crappy and unable to control your decomposing body lol. This tremor however, IS hereditary. My 3 year old son was also tested at the same time with my husband and we see his hands/fingers shake all the time. In conclusion I feel like for one you should relax about this but I do think you should speak to your doctor about essential tremors. Lab tests and imaging are rarely needed for a diagnosis. You will need to seena neurologist for the testing. The tests are literally just things like closing your eyes and lifting your arms with your palms down, hands flat (your hands would just shake also This one was for the fave tremors too. All the rest are with your eyes open). Another one was trying to touch your pointer finger to the doctors tip of his pointer finger (you'd have a hard time and would see your finger kinds of wander), and another one is standing up and walking heel to toe almost like a sobriety test (you'd notice it to be quite difficult). Oh and, if I can explain this correctly, another one he did was sitting on a chair and putting his palm down on the top of his leg/thigh and flipping it over. Back and forth kind of as fast as you can. What happened with my husband on that was he kept kind of tripping up and not being able to correctly flip his had back and forth; with his left hand it was exponentially worse with all of the tests.
Okay! So that was fun right! I hope this helped. I never answer things like this but I was having some stupid *** anxiety since 4:30 am and happened to be awake reading about other people's problems and noticed yours was far too similar to my husbands and since I too have anxiety I knew how bad your mind can make things seem. I hope I given you enough details to relax until you can been seen by a doctor. I felt you needed to know and be reassured that you don't have to worry so much and all it would take to get a diagnosis would be a 15 minute appointment with your doctor for a referral to a neurologist and then a 15 minute appointment with said neurologist! Simple and fast and you can, if you want, be prescribed a beta blocker to settle down the shaking.
Also, don't let other people tell you how to feel just because you have anxiety. I know it's hard to trust yourself sometimes with emotions because of the anxiety but if you feel like this shaking is what I described then why not check it out. it's a simple and short enough test done by a neurologist that what's the big deal to just go get tested? It'll give you either a diagnosis or peace of mind knowing it's just you anxiety. Which ***** but hey, it's better to know right? People don't understand anxiety. You need to make the choices as to how your going to treat your anxiety symptoms. Some you can ignore, some can be helped with medication, but some need to be indulged. Sometimes all it takes is a little follow up with some of your symptoms and when you get your answers and they're most likely just due to anxiety then you can tuck that worry away and say **** you to it because you've figured it out. That's kind of how I treat my anxiety. I treat it as kind of the ******* version of me in my head trying to freak me out all the time. It's not me its my anxiety. Only you can beat it.
Hope this helps!! Sorry it's so ******* long!
