What Can I D0

by haug0382, Nov 30, 2007 07:26PM
Hi, it has been over a year since my head started really bugging me.  By bugging me I mean that every second of everyday, I feel a strong and intense pressure feeling in and around my head.  It has never went away since it first came but it is constantly there and changing all the time.
If I have a drink, the pressure will become worse the next day and if I have a few drinks, it will feel even worse.  Sometimes there is a tight feeling around my brain that feels like there is a plastic bag tightening around it.
When it first happened I went to the emergency room and they told me that it was the ecstasy I took over a month before that.
I then went to a neurologist and he said there was no way it was the ecstasy but said that it was anxiety.
I then went to an anxiety counselor and he said that he had no idea where this feeling that I am having is coming from.
I am a senior in college and my grades have slipped dramatically after this.  I don't know if I can even graduate anymore.
I don't know what to do anymore.  I dont know if I should waste more money on more doctors telling me things that I already know.
Can someone please help me?

Did the counselor diagnose you with anxiety?
Have you had any blood tests or other tests done.
Get copies of all test results for your "home medical file."
This may be helpful in the future, to compare with later tests.

Are you having insomnia, difficulty concentrating, irritability, or anxiety.
Did anyone suggest any medication for depression, anxiety, or migraine.
Have you done drugs at all in the last year.  Did this cause any change.
You said that drinking alcohol makes the pressure worse the next day.
Did this cause you to stop drinking, or do you still drink socially.
Do you smoke or drink coffee.

What happens when you take aspirin, tylenol, or ibuprofen.
Have you tried Excedrin Migraine.  This is tylenol (acetaminophen), aspirin, and caffeine.  Taking two of these actually helps my headaches.

What is your diet like.
How much sleep are you getting.
Are you having any physical symptoms.
Bookmark this page, as this forum gets many queries.
I'll check back with you.

Wishing you the best,
Carol

Hi Haug,
How are you feeling now?
Do you still do ecstasy or alcohol?
What are the investigations done for you?
Has any scan been done? If so I would like to know the report?
I think anxiety might the cause, because of age, alcohol, parties, ecstasy etc.
Do you have any other symptoms like irritability, insomnia, difficulty, concentration problem or feeling of lost and what to do?
What I am trying to say is Substance abuse or alcohol toxicity has similar features.
I would suggest you to do meditation, yoga, and deep breathing exercise and take multivitamins.
If annoying symptoms still persist, then you consult a physician.

Hi,
I think  most probably it is tension headache. First and foremost please calm down and stop taking alcohol completely. Take up a physical activity or sport. If you are anxious you can take antianxiety medicine like alprazolam at night. Eat your meals regularly on time. Do not stay awake past your bedtime and maintain proper fluid intake. Hope you will feel better soon!
