I have had painful burning/tinglings over most of my body since August. I have just been seen by a specialist at a highly-regarded tertiary center. In his letter to my referring physician, the Neurologist states that "I would obtain SSA and SSB and anti-HU antibodies.
I would most appreciate your telling me what those laboratory tests help identify/rule out, or whatever.
These are lab tests which test for the pesence of antibodies which are found
in autoimmune diseases and attack the nervous system.
Anti SSA and SSB antibodies are found in autoimmune diseases like lupus,
which can cause a peripoheral neuropathy.
Anti Hu antibody is an antibody directed specifically against peripheral
nerves which is also found in peroipheral neuropathy.
