What happened?

This is copied and pasted from another site I wrote it on looking for answers. I didn't have any replies at all, so I thought maybe someone here might have some thoughts or input. This all happened last Friday 12-21-07.

Someone said I might have had a seizure. All I know, is last Friday I felt my chest hurting. I have had problems in the past feeling my heart or chest hurting, abnormal ekg’s, only to return to normal and get told there is nothing wrong. For this reason, I didn’t think much about the pain.

Next thing I know, I have a huge, deep cut above my eye as well as a black, swollen eye. My tounge is swollen with a hole in the top as if I bit through it, and underneath loose skin as if I bit. I remember feeling nausa and pukeing. My entire body hurt for days as if I got hit by a car. I had blood in my urine that night and the following morning, but went away. I don’t know or remember what happened, I was confused for 2 days at least.

My friend came over that day. He said he knocked and I didn’t answer, but then he heard me cough so he came in. He said he asked me what was going on and I guess I told him I was just taking a nap as I was picking myself up off the floor with blood all over. He said he thought I was drunk because I was stumbleing, sweating real bad, and my speach. He’s a pastor, so he got angry and left thinking I was drunk. He came back an hour later and realized I had nothing to drink.

I started a new blood pressure medicine the day before, so I was thinking that maybe my blood pressure just dropped too much too quick, but I continue to take it, and I am fine. Someone said it sounds just like a grand mall [mal] seizure, especially because my muscles hurt so bad from my neck down to my ankles for no reason. I can understand my head hurting because I must have hit something hard falling. I do not know anything about seizures.

Can anyone shed any light on my situation or any thoughts please? The day it happened seems like a dream, flashbacks of bits and pieces.

Thank you for your response.  I am one of those stubborn guys that don't go get helped, hopeing everything just goes away. After this though, and a few other people pushing me, I tried to call my doctor (5 days after the incidence) and they are closed untill Jan 3rd. But I will call that day and see what they say because I am still scared about whatever happened and that it might happen again. I was told there are tests that can be done to see if I had a seizure, even though it was awhile ago now. Thanks for your input, and I normally  don't drive anyway due to a back injury, but you are right. I am not taking the chance no matter what.

Yes, it sounds like you may have had a seizure, and fell, hitting your head.
People often bite their tongue during a seizure, as their muscles lock and spasm.
Thank goodness you weren't driving, as you could have plowed into other cars and people, killing someone.

You should have been taken to the Emergency Room immediately for evaluation, because you lost consciousness and were injured.
Your doctor would do an electroencephalogram and probably Xray the skull for fractures.
Your laceration above the eye should have been cleaned and taped, or sutured.

You also would be started on medication to reduce the chance of future seizures.
Please, please, do not drive until you get this sorted out.
Call a friend, call a cab........if you drive like this you may kill someone.

Wishing you the best,
Carol
