Please explain what demyelin is, whether it can be detected from an MRI scan and how it can be cured.

Hi,

Demyelination means loss of the protective covering of the nerves known as myelin sheath. This results in impairment of signal conduction through the nerve fibers causing decreased sensations, movements etc.
Some demyelinating diseases of the nervous system include MS, transverse myelitis and optic neuritis which can be detected on MRI.
Hope this answers your question.

Please advise how demyelination can be treated and whether Kalawalla or other herbal products are effective in treating this disorder.

This has just been diagnosed from images received from an MRI scan and patient reports of occassional sensitivity to limbs as well as a "lazy" leg following exercise.

Does any Doctor know whether demylination can be cured?
