Hi,
Sorry about your pain - I know how miserable headaches are, being a persistent sufferer myself who has had very few answers. One thing I have found, though, is that Paracetemol begets more headaches. I have found that if I use Ibuprofen instead, there is much less chance of the headache recurring the next day. I don't know why. For this reason, it may be worth trying a change of painkiller, after a proper assessment of the cause of your headaches, of course. Ibruprofen has its problems, particularly for causing stomach irritation, and you need to bear this in mind.
Good luck,
Jule
Sorry to hear about your symptoms. First it's important to know what kind of headache you are experiencing. If it's one side of the head continuously for several days/weeks with no break in between this could be chronic paroxysmal hemicrania which fortunately is VERY responsive to a med called indocin. If you are having several attacks in a day that cluster for days to weeks separated by years affecting one side with tearing or runny nose, this could represent cluster headaches which also repsond to indocin. Finally this could represent periodic migraines. A careful neurological history is important in determining this and will help direct you to the right treatment.
In the meantime it sounds like you need to break the cycle of daily headaches. IV meds such as depakote, magnesium, steroids, or DHE can be helpful. Other meds include imitrex, maxalt, zomig which can be taken at home. Then,In addition to abortive therapy that will stop a headache or break a cycle, you will need a daily preventive medication such as inderal, verapamil, or elavil epsecially if it's a migraine headache. Get a second opinion by a neurologist who specializes in headaches or chronic pain. In the year 2002, there are many options for you to help you get better. GOod luck.
I may be way off here but if your not getting any help as it is...Have you concidered that your eyes might have some kind of problem? A lot of eye diseases cause pain where you describe it.
Like I said I may be way off, but it's worth a shot.
Best of luck,
Kiana
I don't know if you may be suffering cluster migraine headaches but I too suffer from migraines and have taken numerous medications, injections (Imitrex) etc... what I have found to be extremely helpful in reducing the number of attacks and intensity of my migraines has been vitamin B2 otherwise known as Riboflavin. I take 400 mg's daily and have been doing so over the past year. I have noticed a dramatic decrease in my attacks and severity. The only set back is that this takes anywhere from 3-4 months to get into the body so don't expect quit results but stick with it because it may work for you too. I noticed a change just past the 4 month mark. I use the Jamieson brand but I'm sure any brand would be o.k. The only side effect I have is my urine is bright yellow because whatever your body doesn't use excretes into the urine (the tablets are bright yellow too) I hope you have as much luck with this as I have.
Perhaps they are tension headaches. If you had them for that long, I wouldn't think that they would be anything more.
it sounds like you have cluster headaches, ask your doctor about this, there are medicines that help like imitrex. sorry to hear about your pain and good luck
