What too expect

I have been living with chronic lower back pain. After a long search from chiropractors to physical therepy to general practition. I couldn't get answers. All I could get was pain meds which led to an addiction. I finally said ENOUGH! This is going to kill me! So after an agonizing bout with withdrawl (that I went through at home with my husband and under my doctors supervision and drugs to help) and a ************** program I CHOOSE for myself, I managed to kick the habit. That is finally when my doctor started to send me to people who would investagate my pain. After an MRI they found that I have a tear in 2 of my discs L4 and L5. Pain management found a lipoma that had to be removed in my low back explaining it was pushing on muscles causing pain. So its been 6 days since surgery. My question is, will the disc problem cause me further pain? I dont know yet if the removal of the lipoma has aleviated my pain. Its too soon. But what am I too expect from my other disc issue? thank you
