Where should I go now??

Hi, I`ve posted in the past and have had some more tests done since, so I wanted to ask your opinion on where I should go from here. I started having numbness, tingling, mild intermittent eye pain in the right eye, fasiculations, and tendon tightness in the extremities 9 1/2 months ago, after my 1st baby was born. I seen a neurologist a month after it began. He performed a brain and c-spine MRI which were normal and a nerve conduction test and blood test which were normal, that was 7 mos. ago. I seen a 2nd neurologist after the first one. He did a heavy metal blood test which I think came back normal. He said he would call if anything came up w/ it, and he didn`t. He did a Somatosensory Evoked Potentials lowers test on me, which came back normal also. My symptoms are still w/ me, but slightly better. He said he wanted to monitor me for a while. What do you think I should do now? How would you diagnose me? Thanks....

Also, thanks to all who answered my recent questions I emailed you. I promise I`m gonna review them all and let you all know what conclusions I come up with. I`ve just been real busy lately. Give me a week or 2, thanks...

Yes, I have had some eye problems. I`ve had some eye pain that`s intermittent behind the right eye. I was also driving down the road one day, and my vision began to fluctuate, like I was looking up from the bottom of a swimming pool. That was the only time that I had any visual effects though.

I too agree that it seems that most of us are from the eastern part of the USA. And most of us have taken the epidural, w/ a few having Group B meds. I`m beginning to think this is epidural related....My symptoms have improved dramatically lately. Almost like this thing is wearing off or something. I`ve been pushing myself to exercise, and it`s helping. I`ve been sweating a lot w/ exercise, and I`m hoping I`m sweating out whatever has been attacking me. However, I still do have some mild neuro problems such as twitching and mild feet tingling.... Good luck all. And thanks for the posts. The support for each other on this has been overwhelming to me!

hi, i just read your post. this was my second son, second pregnancy. my first delivery was april 97 and i did not experience any neuro problems afterwords. with your other 2 pregnancies did you have these problems, or did it just start after the last birth just like me?i have considered a problem with the epidural as a possible reason also.we are militry so i delivered in italy at a base hospital. the meds did come from the u.s. , but i dont know what company or anything like that.i noticed most of us are from the eastern part of the u.s., i lived and grew in new jersey until i got married.i also have a question for anyone , does anyone have any vision problems???,i have eye floaters that started when all this other mess started. im just asking to see if i can relate this problem to the other symptoms sice they all happened around the same time. thanks everyone for your support!!

Yes I do experience numbness after the twitches and tremors in my face and also in my hands. We seemed to be scattered about the U.S. I was looking for maybe  a tie in with a particular region of the U.S. but that is all out. I do see that we are all under the age of 30 I am 29 years old with three girls. Kitana 7, Keira 3, and Kaleigh 5 months. I will continue on my search until we have some answers. Have a wonderful day. I agree that we may have gotten a new drug with the epidural or maybe as was stated a bad batch of the antibiotics for Group B strep or epidural. But anyways keep searching and keep your head up.

Hi I`m 23 years old from southwest, Virginia, USA. I wonder if perhaps there was a bad batch of epidural or Group B medicines floating around when we were administered them?.....Just a thought.....

I created the question and will email them to everyone tonight-  There are over 50 questions- mostly yes/no.  I will forward them as a word document in a table format, you can save it to your hard drive, answer the question, re save, than forward back to me as an attatchment.  Please let me know if you need help doing this or do not have word on your computer and I'll think of some other way. When I get everyones response I will then compile the question in one table and forward them to everyone.  Please be specific in your reply and try to get back to me by next Tue.

hi!! i read your post and i share many of your symptoms. my symptoms started 5 1/2 weks after the birth of my son .(read post(jct), strangely enough today is the 1 year mark from when my symptoms first started (june 12, 2002). with any of the twitching in your face and neck i was wondering if you experience any numbness. it seem like when i get the twitching in face and neck it is sometimes followed by numbness. 24 year old -albuquerque new mexico. thanks

Hi, I`m suffering from neurological problems too. You can read my previous posts for details. Yes, I was given an epidural during vaginal childbirth. It was placed 3 times. It slowed my labor, and I threw up w/ it. I shook all over & had a backache the next morning. I was also given Groub B strep meds for the Group B Strep bacteria which I`m a carrier of. You? What`s your email? We can all compare notes. I`m really starting to think that there`s definitely something going on here now....there`s too many women on here suffering from the same stuff, and I am really starting to doubt that MS is a part of this.

I think you were also asking if any one noticed these symptoms after stress. Yes mine seemed to show up after a particular stressful period of adjusting to going back to work, pumping at work, financial worries, and two other kids in the home besides baby. And my symptoms seem to worsen when my stress level is up. Hope that helps.

Wow I am amazed at how you and I are so similar. I tested positive for group B strep as well and received the whole battery of antibiotics during labor. The epidural also slowed my labor, my blood pressure began to drop and they kept me on oxygen and rotating me from one side to the other, and a pitocin drip to get my labor regulated. Needless to say after 9 hours of being stuck at 6cm a c-section was given to me for failure to progress.  After the section I shook all over as well for about an hour and had a backache the next day. All of the symptoms I am describing started about 9-10 weeks postpartum however now that I think about it the tingling in my hands started maybe 4-5 weeks postpartum. I will definately be making an appointment today to see a neurologists. Thanks for your help. My email address is ***@****.

Hi.  Post your e-mail address on the forum.  LMar requested that those of us with similar experiences and symptoms do so in order that she can e-mail us all a list of questions so that we can identify some commonalities.  Also, I would definitely make an appt with a neuro in the meantime.  I believe that we should always look for help from people who specialize in the type of problem we are experiencing.  Since you are experiencing neurological problems, it would be wise to start there and then keep going to other specialists based on what you learn throughout the whole process.  Good luck!!

I am so glad to finally hear others that are suffering from the same symptoms I have. They started about 9 weeks after the birth of my third child. I had a c-section after failure to progress and I also had an epidural. I have burning sensations on the back of my head that sometimes goes down my spine, in my hands, stomach and other extremites. It feels as though vicks vapor rub has been rubbed on them. They come and go and so does the tingling in my hands, I have muscle twitching in my legs, stomach area, neck, tremors in my face and neck. I also feel tightness around my neck and chest area. I have had a Brain Scan, 2-12 lead EKG's, thyroid, diabetes, catecholamines, 24hr creatinine, kidney function and all have come back normal. Now I am beginning to suspect if there is some tie in with child birth. Did any of you receive an epidural or meds while in the hospital? How long ago since the birth of your children? Call it paranoya or whatever but there has to be some tie in some where we all cannot be crazy. And I find it quite peculiar that we have all been found normal from any serious conditions. Please I am tired of all the tests and I haven't seen a neurologists as of yet, but I am sure that all of this is going to turn out normal as well. I will take any suggetions that may help me I am tired of feeling like this.
