Why am I having nerve pain after a rotator cuff repair?

I had a rotator cuff repair done back in December of 2007.  I am now experiencing extreme pain down my arm and into my hand.  What causes this and how can I get the pain to go away?  I would also like to know if it is safe to use this hand/arm for extensive lifting and overhead lifting as well.

Hello Dear,

After rotator cuff repair, 80% to 95% of patients achieve a satisfactory result, defined as adequate pain relief, restoration or improvement of function, improvement in range of motion, and patient satisfaction with the procedure. Certain factors decrease the likelihood of a satisfactory result- Poor tissue quality ,large or massive tears ,poor compliance with postoperative rehabilitation and restrictions patient age (older than 65 years) .
Consult your surgeon and  go in for  x-ray to see the healing process.
