Why am i having burnig sensation in both legs, hands and around perianal area??

Hi i am 31 years old female, married have 6 years old son. I have started to have burning sensation for last 10 days and it fluctuates during the day. I like like i have fire under my skin and it is very uncomfortable feeling..i went to neurologist today and he said that he can not tell me anything without doing nerve study test which is next Monday.. i need help i don't know what is going on with me.. i have been suffering from pain for 6 months. First it started with the vaginal burning in last october, 2010. i went to primary care physicians, GYN, and Urologist.. no one is able to tell what is going on with me. all the tests, PAP, HPV..etc were normal. i was very disappointed from all the doctors since they were not able to tell me what is wrong with me and suddenly last week this burning sensation started on my arms, legs, feel, and around the rectum area..when i sit it feels like i am sitting on fire. The vaginal burning is not so intense but it is still there. I need some help if anyone ever has experienced this type of symptoms please feel free to post reply here. My doc. has put me on Neurontin which i am going to start from tomorrow..I feel like i am dying each day with this burning..

Hi there. These perineal tingling and burning sensation could be due to pudendal neuralgia or pudendal nerve entrapment, causing paresthesiae in the lower pelvic, genital, and perineum area. The causes could be extended sitting at work, sports involving heavy weight lifting, running and cycling. Women could have this after a difficult child birth or after hysterectomy. You need to consult a neurologist for nerve conduction velocity study. An MRI spine is warranted for checking for any degenerative disc disease causing compression of nerve roots. Multiple sclerosis a demyelinating disorder needs to be excluded.  It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs. Bowel and bladder symptoms include frequency of micturition, urine leakage, eye symptoms like double vision uncontrollable rapid eye movements, facial pain, painful muscle spasms, tingling, burning in arms or legs, depression, dizziness, hearing loss, fatigue etc. You have many of these symptoms. The treatment is essentially limited to symptomatic therapy so the course of action would not change much whether MS has been diagnosed or not. Apart from clinical neurological examination, MRI shows MS as paler areas of demyelination, two different episodes of demyelination separated by one month in at least two different brain locations. Spinal tap is done and CSF electrophoresis reveals oligoclonal bands suggestive of immune activity, which is suggestive but not diagnostic of MS. Demyelinating neurons, transmit nerve signals slower than non-demyelinated ones and can be detected with EP tests. These are visual evoked potentials, brain stem auditory evoked response, and somatosensory evoked potential. Slower nerve responses in any one of these is not confirmatory of MS but can be used to complement diagnosis along with a neurological examination, medical history and an MRI and a spinal tap. Therefore, it would be prudent to consult your neurologist with these concerns. Take care.

Hello Dr. Sharma i am sorry i am disturbing you again but i was wondering if you recommend any home remedy that can help relieve my symptoms until i see the neurologist. Here in US it is very difficult to get appointment so quick you won't believe when i went yesterday to see my neurologist he said that they only do nerve studies on mondays and tuesdays so the next available was next monday and i took that spot. Then they said after the nerve study your doc. want to see you back in 6 weeks i was so shocked. i told that i am in so much pain and it needed to be treated as soon as possible how can i wait for 6 weeks just to know what was the result for nerve study so all these weeks between i have to bear that pain? so she said that i need to talk to the doc. and i did talked to him so he gave me appointment for next thursday. I know i am telling to so much detail but if you can suggest something i will appreciate your help. Thank You.
