Why do my hands shake?

Why do my hands shake?

My hands have shaken since I was born. I was born in 1958. Mother had all kind of test run on me and they said it was just nerves. As I have gotten older, they have gotten worse, sometimes my head, whole body shakes. All the medical doctors I have been to don't know. Some say it may be heritary.

Hi there. Certain causes of tremors or shaking of hands since birth is brain, nerve or movement disorder. This may include inherited peripheral neuropathies like charcot marie tooth syndrome, dystonias, brain tumor, multiple sclerosis may have an intention tremor, muscle tiredness or fatigue, hyperthyroidism, essential tremor can occur with parkinson’s disease. Essential tremor can be idiopathic which means without any underlying cause and is usually an intention tremor. It could occur in families and more than one member affected mean familial tremor. Consult a neurologist to evaluate you. You could avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks, stress, emotionally worked up states, any drugs making these worse. Exercise and stress reduction techniques and counseling may help. Take care.
