Why does numbness occur during migraines?

I am 24 years old now and every since I was a child I've had problems with migraines.  5 years ago after I had my first child I would fall out from the pressure of the migraine and then they slacked up.  In July of this year, I would start to have numbness on the left side of my face during a migraine.  This went on for a few weeks and then it seemed to slack up.  But then the numbness moved to the right side of my face and it scared me.  I've always had problems with headaches but the numbness is new.  NOt only would the left side of my face go numb but the left arm, hand, leg and foot would go numb.  I've also been having migraines more often now.  It's like 4-5 days a week.  I just don't undertsand what's going on.  I had a CT done last month and the results were fine but I'm still having problems.  Even after I take my medication the migraine will lighten up but it never really goes away. COuld you please give me some advice.
