Widespread muscle twitching , paraesthesia for more than 3 months?

I'm a 21 year old female. I have a very good diet and take vitamin supplements within limits. I have widespread muscle twitching all over my body with some muscle weakness on my left side. My limbs feel like they are burning, tingling, insects are crawling or biting me or even a sensation of water pouring on them for almost 3 months. But there is a certain peculiarity, I get twitching in my perineum area which is constant and unrelenting, it's very frustrating. I can't study, sleep or watch anything because my vaginal and rectal muscles are constantly twitching (painless) which is very distracting. I don't know what to do and I'm embarrassed to go to a doctor. Has anyone heard about something like this?

Just got my CBC, Vit D3 and Vit B12 levels checked....everything was normal except my D3...which is 8ng/ml when the optimum range should be above 50. Does this have any relevance to my symptoms ?

Hi. Your symptoms do sound distracting and rather annoying.  Yes, I have heard of this area twitching.  It is possible that it stems from a neurological problem or of another source. Don't panic, just go to the doctor and let them help sort it out for you.

Don't be embarrassed to go to a doctor for anything.  They have heard it all and then some.

Have you ever had an MRI of your brain and/or cervical spine?  I see that you have posted in the fibromyalgia community.  Have you been diagnosed with fibro?  I would think an MRI is in order with your history of pain and fibro-type symptoms.

It's prudent to see a neurologist when experiencing twitching muscles, burning and tingling.  My neurologist treats fibromyalgia, as most do these days.

Make sure you're not taking too much of B vitamins - B6 can cause problems if taking too much.

Let us know how it goes and feel free to ask anything you like.

Take care.
