Woke up yesterday and my left pupil was much larger than my right.

My left pupil was much larger when I woke up today than my right one. It lasted several hours but went away. Should I go see a doctor or be concerned? Thank you for any help.

These forums are for people to seek advice from others, and on what was presented, I posted a reply advising that an ophthalmologist be seen to check out the eyes.

These forums are NOT for slagging and slandering people off and saying that I am "well-intentioned, but ....is going to get somebody killed."
I strongly OBJECT to you being slanderous!

I DO NOT force my inhaler on someone that I do not know their circumstances, not like some people I could mention caregiver222!

Your slanderous and undermining attitude is unacceptable.

caregiver222 is quite right, If this happens again you have to get it checked out, just to be on the save side. But most likely this was just an insignifiant one time thing.

Best wishes,
Dagun

The oculomotor nerve, the third nerve of the twelve cranial nerves, controls constriction of the pupils. Assymetric constriction can occur due to a  palsy of this nerve due to infection, neuroma or tumor. In all liklihood you have an insignificant problem that may not return. On the other hand if there is a difference in pupil size you have a 911 call to the ER for observation and a neurological evaluation. Not an appointment with an eye doctor three weeks from now. The eye specialist to consult is a neurological opthamologist.

Good that everything is fine now.

May be it would be a good idea to get your eyes checked out by the ophthalmologist if you have not had your eyes tested for a while.

Best wishes.

No, It's not that b/c I know what your saying about light and dark. This wasn't the case. My left was a bit larger than my left. Very noticble. I kept checking and it hasn't come back. I don't know why this happened. I'm fine today. Thanks

The pupils enlarge to let more light pass through the lens of the eye.

So when it the light is dim or it is dark, your pupils will enlarge.
When it is very bright the pupils will get small to let in less light pass through.

I have never looked and noticed whether one would be different to the other one.  But I suppose if that side of your face was in a darker area to the other, then it is reasonable to assume that the pupils would differ in size.

If this does keep happening, it may be a good idea to see your ophthalmologist to get your eyes checked out.

Best wishes.
