Woken up with a jolt, severre dizzyness, inner shaking...

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. Over the past 3 months, when I feel I have just dosed off, I am awoken by a feeling as though my face has just been smothered. I am short of breath and experience some form of inner shaking. This was happening periodically but is becoming a more regular occurrence, with more symptoms.

Last week I woke up with the above symptoms & my right hand fingers were twitching like crazy. Each time I tried to fall asleep after I would wake up with a jolt and the 'inner shaking' would begin. This happened another four times before I could eventually sleep.

Last night has made me slightly concerned as it was the worst experience of this to date. I woke up with a jolt like feeling, I had a severe inner shaking feeling, I was severely dizzy and felt like my eyes were being affected by the dizziness & shake that I could not focus correctly. I tried to get out of bed to try & walk a little but I was so dizzy I couldn't stand. About 5+ minutes later I felt a slight bit of relief & tried to fall back asleep, only to be awoken by this feeling another 6 times!

I have just recently had a heart monitor as I was experiencing palpitations, which she diagnosed as being a 'normal irregular heartbeat' at times. Although I did not have the above symptoms when I was issued the heart monitor. I did explain these episodes to the Cardio specialist and she suggested that it sounds like something neurological rather than heart related and felt confident enough to not have to give me another heart monitor. I do have an appointment with my doctor this month, I just wonder if anyone else experiences this & knows the cause?
