Worried About Diagnoses

Posted by Debbie on August 11, 1999 at 09:32:25
Hello,
I have been having joint pains for 1 year. It started in my hand and now is in my left middle toe, but only the toe. I have had so many tests! But, the Rhem. I went to last week said I had Parvovirus and a slight under active thyroid. I am worried. I never did get the face or other rashes associated with parvo. I now have a small rash under my arm that just will not stay healed. All of this concern over my health started because I wanted to get pregnant and wanted to find out the cause of my joint pains. I am 37, also have what the doctor calls minimal mitral valve regurgitation. I also heard about Inholtra and I want to try that. The pain and inflammation is very painful. My concerns and questions:  Does it appear that I am in danger as far as my health? Approximatly how long before the parvo is gone?  I worry about starting thyroid medication because I must always take it then.  Is it ok to leave off the medicines for thyroid and parvo?  Thanks for any help, Debbie (Atlanta, GA)

I am desperately looking for some information on the so called postviral syndrome, mainly in paediatrics.
The disease is chacterised by post viral state with asthenia, polyarthralgia, polymyalgia, polysynovitis , peripheral oedema.

Dear Dr. Lavrin:
For the neurological complications of post-viral syndromes I would look at a general pediatric neurology text such as Menkes or Acaradi, or Fenichel's.
Sincerely,
