Worried; am I at risk?

by laurenrose54, Apr 11, 2009 11:50AM
Hi. This is something I have been churning over and over in my mind. I feel there is no one to talk to about this.

Recently, I have been experiencing everyday headaches--they are not severe, not they are more or less constant. A dull ache sometimes, or at other times a sensation of pressure, usually at the temples or around the eyes. I had thought it was something to do with my sinuses, but the medication had a temporary effect and it is not isolated to the sinus area. It's getting me down. I wonder if its stress, but I'm only worrying when I have headaches, because I fear brain tumours and meningitus and all sorts. I'm also drinking five or six glasses of water a day. Ibuprofen helps but I don't like to take it too regularly because I hear it's not good for the organs.

What I worry abotu msot is also something I am embarrassed and ashamed about. I was born--whether through genetics or whatnat (I've never felt confident enough to ask)--with an abnormally shaped cranium, somewhat bigger than most people's, and more prominant at the temples. It is something I am very self-conscious about. But I was wondering, does it put me at more risk of brain tumours, cancers, haemmorages(sp?) and etc. than somebody with a, well, normal shaped cranium?
This sounds stupid and vain, I know, but I feel less able to talk to my doctors about these headaches because of my deformity. I am also embarrassed to the point of putting off booking a CAT scan.
