Your Opinions

  I would appreciate your advice on my health.  I am a 33 y/o male with no prior health problems or family history of neurological problems.  Over the past eighteen months, I have experienced some disturbing symptoms including generalized malaise feelings, anxiety, lightheadedness or fullness sensation in head, full body-wide fasciculation's (8 months), transient tingling feeling in feet (lasted 3 weeks and would vary in intensity from no sensation to noticeable), increased floaters in eyes, clear discharge in eyes (nearly constant), fine resting tremor in hand (lasted 3 weeks and would subside if moved), increased ear popping.  None of the symptoms have been continuous and none have lasted for a day in entirety. I have had two months at a time go by without any symptoms, but it seems to keep reoccurring although with less severity.  I suppose if the feelings in my head were not there, I would not be too worried about this problem but it does not seem as if it is going to leave me; I feel my quality of life is being affected (chiefly from worry).
  There are some additional details I feel are relevant and do not seem to "fit" with any disorders I am aware.  For example, during this time I have had no fatigue or weakness and I have continued to enjoy an active lifestyle.  The more active I am the less I seemed bothered by my condition.  In fact, through self-discovery I have found that exercise (I run 10 - 15 miles a week) relieves all symptoms for the entire day about 95% of time.  Also, hot temperatures relieve all symptoms about 90% of the time.  If I raise my body temperature via exercise, a hot and humid day, scalding hot bath or shower, or even a cold with a high fever it seems to eliminate the problem or make it much better.  Strangely enough, aspirin will relieve my head sensations about 75% of time (I have had very few headaches during this time, which is normal for me).  For the past few months I have become compulsive about exercising (rollerblading, ice skating, skiing, basketball, etc.) and crave hot weather and high temperatures.  As I write this I see the unusual nature of my situation, but its effect on me is reeking havoc on my work and life.  I do not believe I am under any unusual stress and I am not depressed in spite of my condition.
  I have been to several physicians who all have been stumped by my symptoms and conclude it is just stress and anxiety.  I have been worried the problems could be early signs of MS, but some aspects of my condition seem almost counter to this disease.  One doctor referred me to an excellent neurologist who concluded after an extensive clinical work up for MS, there was "nothing wrong with me" and felt no further pathology was required and no MRI was necessary.  My current internist agrees and has performed blood work (including a thyroid test) to rule out any other possibilities such as vitamin deficiencies, etc.  Nothing came of a result.
  My questions to you are:
  1) Does my situation sound like MS presenting in any way?
  2) What other disorder could this be?
  3) Its been nearly eighteen months since this started; if not MS, at what point can I stop worrying about this if symptoms do not worsen or continue on their current path?
  4) Do you have any additional suggestions that may be of help?
  Thanks for your help.

==================================================
This does not sound remotely like MS to me, thensymptoms are too fleeting minor and vague to suggest the diagnosis, in particular the improvement with heat is totally uncharacteristic.
These symptoms do not sound like any neurological disease to me , they involve too many different levels of the nervous system to ascribe to a single anatomical cause and are too transitory to fit with any ongoing pathological process. All involve purely subjective phenomena and are not accompaned by any objective findings, these all suggest to me that there is no ongoing neurological disorder.
If an ongoing process has not been uncovered at this point I think you can
stop worrying, anything serious would have declared itself at this point, and in any case symptoms which are so fleeting are unlikely to build up to anything significant in my experience.
I would suggest that having reached this point you should explore the role that anxiety / stress is playing in your problems. Nobody likes to hear this and people feel that they are being blown-off  as not having a real problem, however stress can manifest in many ways and the story you tell is veru very typical. I would suggest that you at least consider this possibility and look into was to mininise stress amd worry.
