Zapping pain & buzzing sensation Left side of head

I have been experiencing a zapping pain and an occasional 'buzzing' sensation on the left side of my head/brain for a few months now.  The zapping pain only last a few seconds, they seem to come in clusters and very short lived.  The buzzing lasts longer with pauses between, but I only experience this occasionally.  I have been logging and making notes to try and make sense of it all, but I dont see any type of pattern.  I don't have any other symptoms.  Occasionally, I do mix my words up like saying, paper toilet instead of toilet paper, or saying the wrong world like, left when I mean right, or have a hard time getting out a word, and so on, but I have done that for a long time.  I have plans to go to the doctor, but any thoughts?  I'm healthy but over weight W F 32 yrs old, only meds are birth control (Implanon) and vits.  Thanks for any info/advice.

you probably already had a predisposition to "mix words". it might have been triggered by another condition that is causing lack of concentration in you. the buzzing might be the facial nerve or the ear nerve. is there anything in you left eye or vision in general?

see a Doc. and do complete blood count. the specialist would be a Neurologist

Hey thanks for your reply!  No my vision is good.  The buzzing is left middle high up, feels like a vibration of a bee (I don't hear anything).  Yes, I have been mixing my words for a long time now, so I think youre right.  I have a physical coming up in July so maybe I will have some answers.  My aunt on my dads side died of a brain tumor so bad thoughts have been running thru my mind, but surely, if it was something 'bad' I would have far worse symptoms.  Maybe hormonal?  I have been on the same birth control for 6 yrs..

you're welcome!

your symptoms are nothing like cancer moreover brain cancer is not a genetic condition therefore unrelated with you aunt's.

neither hormonal,  maybe an infection. do you have any allergy-like symptoms, watery nose? bladder/bowel symptoms?

first thing to do is complete blood count and ESR.

it's a good thing to be logging symptoms and things you do, eat, drink, meds you take. if the problem persists get an appointment with a Neurologist!

I will post the results as soon as my doc looks into it.  I feel well, no sickness or runny nose etc., that's what makes it strange and alarming but good to know info, thanks again.

Doctor thinks it is, Trigeminal Neuralgia, but I have no facial pain.  It's the only set of symptoms that fit besides the facial pain that I'm suppose to have with this.. MRI coming soon.

how frequent is it?

It's very random, sometimes days a part, weeks, and then back to back days  multiple times a day.  It's the strangest thing!  This last time it was a week apart and then 2 days in a row off and on through the day.  The sensation has changed a little, more intense without the buzzing.

maybe you could try for a couple of weeks to be on off-the-counter antipyretic drugs like Ibuprofen and see if it happens during that time . also check the quality of your sleep
