I have been prescribed Zyvox for StaphStaph aureus food poisoning Infection that I have had for some time and no other antibiotics have gotten rid of it. The problem is I have been on 25mg Zoloft for years. I know I need to get off the Zoloft before taking the Zyvox but is that dangerous to wait three or four weeks before starting the antibiotic? The doctor told me to stop Zoloft and start the Zyvox. I have tried stopping Zoloft before and started having problems such as tingling around my mouth, etc. It's not pretty. Do you think I could take 25mg every other day for a week and then stop and get on the Zyvox?
Will Xanax help with some of the anxiety during the process? I have it but do not want to get hooked!
How are you?
Taking Zyvox with Zoloft can cause symptoms like anxiety, high fever, sweating, chills, memory problems, loss of coordination and muscle spasms. You cannot take both the medications together.
I would suggest you to follow the advice of your doctor and discuss with him any concerns that you have. Please do not adjust the dose on your own.
Xanax is a short acting tranquilizer and will help you with the anxiety. You can consider this option since Xanax does not interact with Zyvox.
Take care!
