abdominal numbness

My boyfriend experiences tingling and numbness on the right side of his abdomen, just below the rib cage. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Hi there.

There can be several causes for this phenomenon and it will be very hard to pinpoint without the benefit of an actual physical examination.  Impinged nerves from their origin at the spinal column can cause this sensory numbness which can be evaluated through an MRI.  Problems with organs in this area including the liver and kidneys can manifest with superficial symptoms like these.  Micronutrient deficiency such as the B vitamins can result in neuropathy like symptoms.  I suggest you have this looked at and examined by his doctors so that the cause can be ascertained.

Regards.
