adema in left foot

On feb. 17th my left foot started to swell and has been since.  I've had a sonogram of the main artery in that leg and pelvic area looking for any kind of obstruction.  I've had a regular foot x-ray and a weight bearing x-ray along with a MRI and a bone scan.  Everything came back negative.  Ive been to 3 regular doctors and 2 podiatrist along wih 1 sports medicine clinic trying to find an answer.  I have not had a definite diagnoses, only maybes from a nueroma (with a b12 injecton) to tendonitis to possible nerve damage.  I have never broken or sprained, hit, fallen, or injured my foot.  My question is this:  Is there anything else that I can do?  I have a prescribtion that Im afraid to take (Lyrica) without a diagnoses.  After you spend days upon days with your foot elevated without much reduction on swelling you get a little discouraged.  pain rate is about a 3 to 4.  I can walk.  swelling  goes from toes to mid calf when on my feet for prolong time.  Foot does get a purplish-dark redish color when sitting on exam table with feet hanging.  Please help  Leann

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there. The causes for foot swelling are blood clot, leg infection, venous insufficiency, varicose veins; burns include sunburn, insect bite or sting, starvation or malnutrition, surgery to leg or foot, blockade of lymph nodes in the legs or lymphatic obstruction.  certain medications like hormones viz, estrogens, and  testosterone, blood pressure medicines called calcium channel blockers etc. consult a surgeon for a detailed clinical evaluation and flow studies for blood flow in arteries, veins and lymphatics. Take care.

Hi Leann,

I too am experiencing swelling in my left foot. I have had several tests (e.g. MRI, sonogram, ultrsound) seen cardiovascular, podiatrist, allergist, internal specialists and no diagnosis. I am going to see a lymphatics specialist since it is a mild case of lymphodema. I wrote Dr. Oz but not received a response. This is very disturbing.

Good luck,

Joyce

I had a similiar problem many years ago when I was in the Army. My leg (left) swelled up from the knee down to my toes. I did not think much about it, I thought maybe I injred it somehow while out in the field, but years later I found that I had a disc problem in my lower back that was causing all of the problems in my leg. I do not know if your problem is the same but it might be something to look at.
