after myelogram

I have had pain after myelogram the day before yesterday.  It is in the area of the needle puncture and down both legs.  I had same before, but right now, it's not being helped by sidelying like usual, but now it is worse.  I've also had symptoms of loss of memory(couldn't remember what my son's house looked like, esp. the outside of the front.) I couldn't even remember where I was or who I was at first.  It was really creepy.  Anyone have the same??   Won't even go into effects of going off my meds.  Maybe that was what caused the above symptoms.   As to the pain, how long did it take for it to subside.  I did read that you could have increased pain, esp. at site.

Hello.

The symptoms that you have experienced are not very common after a myelogram. You have to make sure if you had any fever or stiff neck just before these symptoms. In cases of infection of the meninges following a myelogram, there can be episodes of disorientation and short term memory loss.

There have also been reports of patients going into delirium (clouding of consciousness) after myelography.

Had myelogram a week and a half ago, 2 days prior to surgery on L3-4 & L4-5. Surgery went very well (for pinched nerves on RIGHT side); but had a complication during myelogram. Needle hit a nerve, which sent an explosive "electrical shock" type pain down my left side. It was so excruciating, I almost passed out. So, 10 days after surgery, my right side is doing well, but the nerve injury is still causing weakness an pain on the left side. I gather that no one can tell me how long it may take to heal, but I would like some info on what might make it more comfortable. Would heat help, or massage? Will it hinder healing to walk through the pain, or should I totally rest?

I had myelogram 10 months ago and still have pain in leg, foot and toes, I don;t know if it will ever go away.
Do you know the level that the needle was inserted?  If it was above L-2 then it was too high.  That is what happened to me the guy that did it went in too high and hit my spinal cord.  I know the pain you are talking about I thought my feet had been blown off my legs, it was horrible I didn't walk for about 6 days. and still have pain to this day.
I will never ever have that procedure done again. NO WAY.
