My husband has a bulging disk in the lumbar region LFOUR Lfive. No one wants to do surgery because of the way the disk is bulging. the disk is bulging inward towards the spine instead of outward or to the side. The majority of the doctors feel that the surgery would do more harm then good. Some claim that it could paralize him and some say that he is on the gray area of surgery. He has been suffering with this for over five years and no one seems to want to correct the problem but instead they want to cover the problem up by using pain meds. He was seeing a chronic pain doctor for four years who just wanted to keep giving him pain meds. I have done a lot of reasearch on these so called meds and they cause more harm then the injury its self. We have looked at other options that our considered non surgical and surgical but none seem to take his condition into consideration. His sadic nerve seemes to be affected by this bulging disk. My question is this. I have noitice that sexal excitement releases the bodys natural cortizone wich in return takes a way all my husbands pain for several hours. Is there a way to make the body keep producing this natural cortizone at all times?  This is something that I would like to see be ressearch. If it helps chronic back pain and authritis what else can it help? I would like to know how an individual like my self can reaserch this if no one feels that this idea is worth looking into?

Thanks for the question. Without having your husbands films to look at it is difficult to make statements regarding treatments. If you wish to have a referral to CCF to further discuss his treatment you can call 216 444 5559. We know that the body/mind can strongly influence a persons ability to handle a stress. Biofeedback has been used for years as a tool to allow patients control of some of their pain. Enddogenous opiate production (the bodies natural opiates) can also influence pain control in patients. If you are interested in this form of treatment you should ask your doctor if they could recommend someone who does biofeedback and your husband could give that a try. Good luck.
