anxiety and mirena

Hi, my name is Marta, I'm 35, I have 2 kids and for couple of months I experience strange sympoms: distented, painful veins in my arms, feeling "of tabasco sauce in veins, heart palpitations, lightheadedness, stifness in back of my head, sudden anxiety, blurred vision, "lump" in my throat, sometimes pressure in my ears. I saw my physician 3 times, first he put me on alprazolam 0.5mg/ 3 times daily, saying it's anxiety and panic, but every day I'm feeling worse and worse: lack of energy, week, I think I"m going to faint, but I'm not, the heart starts pounding, I feel like dying. I have Mirena put 2.5 years ago, may those symptoms be associated w/ Mirena, I didn't have my period for that time. I think I am going crazy, I can't live my normal life anymore. Please help, I have appt to have IUD removed, can hormone mess up the body that much.

Hm... I don't want to be on antidepressants for the rest of my life, and become addicted, but otherwise I want to be myself again. Maybe, I should see my phisician and ask him to change my alprazolam for something long lasting. I always had social phobia, and I feel like after Mirena was placed it became more severe... I don't know I will see my ginecologist soon, maybe she will give me some suggestions. Maybe I should have my thirod checked too...

My friend had that Mirena placed and a within a few months she had severe anxiety, depression etc...She never had it before.  She was put on an antidepressant and she returned to her normal self.  She did not have the Mirena removed.

I am missing my period since Mirena was placed, for 2.5 years. I am not sure if it's good for my health though. It also bothers me that I don't know my cycle. I have read some posts on the internet that Mirena shouldn't be placed in women w/ anxiety and excesive  nervousness. I will start w/ the simple thing by removing it, than will see what is gonna heppend...

Hello.

I am not convinced that your symptoms are caused by Mirena. Panic and anxiety have deep rooted triggers. There may be certain psychological issues which you probably have. You may still go ahead and get the implant removed. But first, get a urine pregnancy test done, since you have missed your periods.

Thank You for response.

Exectly, those symptoms started after Mirena was placed. Suddenly, after sevral months, I started waking up in the middle of the night with shortness of breath, and feeling of dying. I thought, I have a serious disease. I looking forward to have "that thing" taken out ...

Hello.

Your symptoms do appear to be those of panic attacks. Would you say you did not have these symptoms before installing Mirena?

Hormones can playa major role in panic and anxiety disorders.
