astrocytoma grade 2

astrocytoma grade 2

Hi there.  I am a 33 year old female diagnosed with a grade 2 astrocytoma after a biopsy.  I have seen three neurosurgeons and all advise me not to do the radiation treatment as quote ( the radiation  kills you quicker than the tumor)  I  have been to speak to alternative healers and told to only eat a raw food diet which sounds a little out there. is there any truth in this.  my questions are as follows
1.  how long before this turns aggressive
2.  will my diet affect the tumor at all
3. are there any other treatments for this type of tumor
4.  what are the effects of gamma knife radiation ( I was given this as an option) is it effective at all.
5.  are there any medical trials going anywhere in the world at the moment that I can join.
6.  how long do I have
Thank you for your time
warm regards

Thank you for your question. I can understand your worrying concern about the health condition. Grade 2 astrocytoma is a low-grade brain tumor that grows slowly. In addition, its prognosis (survival chances) is better in comparison to other astrocytomas. Your treating doctor may suggest surgical removal of the tumor and radiofrequency ablation. I would recommend that you consult your treating doctor to get precise opinion here since he or she has access to your medical records. Hope this helps.
