atrophic corpus callosum plus brain lesions

atrophic corpus callosum plus brain lesions

39 y/o. Recent MRI shows moderately atrophic corpus callosum which has worsened since previous MRI scan (several years ago) in addition to multiple T2 hyperintense lesions.
Technician asked if I used blood thinners. (I don't)
1. Why would such a question would be asked?
2. Other than MS, what other illnesses can cause hyperintense lesions?
3. Can Bromocriptine (used for a pituitary tumor) cause atrophy of the corpus callosum or cause lesions???

1) I'm not sure why this was asked. Old blood from bleeding appears as dark not bright on T2 scans
2) lesions in the corpus callosum like you describe are usually due to MS. Other causes include tumor, lymphoma, alcoholism with red wine (called 'Marchiafava Bignami syndrome'). Together with atrophy over several years the most likely cause is MS
