atypical trigeminal neuralgia

by jtalli, Oct 23, 2007 05:32PM
I have had trigeminal nerve pain in the V2 area now for 8months.  The constant background pain with flair ups from cold, wind, touch, ect.  No one can tell me exactally if it is atypical trigminal neuralgia and how to fix it.  I am considering seeing a neurosurgeon, but not sure.  I have had a ct and everything is normal.  I am 29 so they were checking mostly for ms.  I was told that I should get a block (not sure exactly what that is), and if that works then I should consider seeing a neurosurgeon.  Can you tell me what a block is and what the risks are?  Also If it is atypical tn, should I see a neurosurgeon?
Thanks, Jtalli
