basal ganglia seizures?

my son had a stroke in the left frontal lobe with small basal ganglia stroke on both sides. was on Keppra for 6 months then taken off. he has mild dykenesia on the right and moderate spasticity on the left side. spasticity on the left is worse now 1 year after. he gets episodes of laughing for no aparant reason with increased tone or tremors off and on. can anticonvulsants be helpful specifically Keppra?
