What if any tests are available to determine cause of berry aneurysms?

Dear Donna:

The etiology of berry aneurysms is not completely known.  Some run in families and therefore are likely inherited, but I do not believe the gene(s) are completely known (I will double check).  Some occur because of collagen vascular malformations, some occur due to hypertension, some just happen.

Sincerely,

CCF Neuro MD
